Here are some facts on Killdeer:
- They nest in small depressions on the ground and will have no lining materials for the nest.
- When a predator comes near, Killdeer will call loudly and act as though one of their wings is broken to lure predators away from the nest.
- A group of these birds is called a "season" of Killdeer.
- They often live far from water, although they are typically thought of as a shorebird.
