Its a common bird pretty much everywhere, but you have to really look or listen for them around the city. This one lives somewhere in the pine trees at the back of our yard and is getting so used to us filling the feeders that it is about ready to eat seed out of our hand. S. had one eat seed from her mitten last winter when we were yurting at the Pinery Provinical Park in Ontario. Chickadees have fairly highly developed vocalizations with 13 different types that communicate different information to other birds. See here for more on these little birds.
