While exploring Rouge Park a bit last weekend, we thought we saw an otter and could not believe it. We watched the animal from a bridge in the park while it swam in the river before scurrying up on shore. Between a light rain and not wanting to miss seeing what it was, we fumbled with the camera such that we did not get a great picture. After researching online, we believe the animal was a mink, which have been spotted in and around the river. They remind S. of a ferret and she observes that they have whiskers. She tells us that there are two species of mink - American and European and that there used to be a third species - Sea Mink, which were much larger and are now extinct.
